2018, Italian Ice Alabaster, 10"x13"x8.5"

"Cherry Blossom" is all about line- the lovely curve of the arching body, the line of the tattoo of cherry blossoms wrapping around and accentuating the torso's form and the subtle lines and forms of the belly. She is carved from a boulder of Italian Ice alabaster, which is gorgeous, buttery, translucent stone that does amazing things with light. Rough sections of the stone remain showing how the stone looked before carving and contrasting beautifully with the polished sections.

Alabaster is a delicate stone which wants to live indoors, well away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures and with good artificial lighting to highlight its translucent quality.
